What Selenium Plate Technology Does.
A Finer Grid Structure
Selenium is used as an alloying element in the plate grids. It produces a finer, more uniform grain structure than plain lead-antimony, giving the grid greater mechanical strength for the same weight — the foundation of everything else the battery does well.
Slower Grid Corrosion

Charge Before Storage
Before machinery stands idle between seasons, make sure the battery is fully charged. A battery stored at partial charge steadily loses capacity, and that loss is the most common reason a tractor will not start at the beginning of a season.
Keep Terminals Clean and Tight
