Engine Coolant & Antifreeze

Organic Acid Technology coolant providing thermal protection from -37°C to 129°C - compatible with all metals and water pump lubrication.

The Challenge

Coolant Fails Quietly, Then All at Once

Coolant is the only fluid in a vehicle that is expected to do four jobs at the same time: carry heat away from the engine, raise the boiling point so it cannot flash to steam around hot spots in the head, prevent corrosion across several different metals sharing one circuit, and lubricate the water pump seal.

The inhibitor package that handles corrosion is consumed over time. Once it is exhausted the coolant still looks and flows much like it did when new, but the protection has gone — and internal corrosion, scale in the radiator tubes and a failing water pump follow. In hot, dusty operating conditions with heavy loads and long idling, that depletion happens faster. The first symptom an operator usually sees is an overheating gauge, by which point damage is already done.

CoolMax is a full Organic Acid Technology formulation built for that reality: thermal protection from -37°C to 129°C, a neutral pH of 7.5 to 8.5, compatibility with aluminium, copper, brass, steel and cast iron in the same system, built-in water pump lubrication, and long-life inhibitors that extend the interval between changes.

Core Benefits

Engineered to Keep You Running.

Overheat Prevention

Maintains optimal engine temperature even under extreme load and ambient heat conditions.

Anti-Freeze Protection

Guards against coolant freezing in sub-zero temperatures - critical for cold-climate operations.

Corrosion Inhibition

Advanced OAT additives protect radiators, water pumps, and metal components from rust and scale.

Extended Service Life

Long-life formula reduces coolant change intervals, saving time and maintenance costs.

Advantages

Beyond Standard Coolants.

Compatible with All Metals

Safe for aluminum, copper, brass, steel, and cast iron - no system restrictions.

Stable Viscosity

Consistent flow characteristics across the full operating temperature range.

Water Pump Lubrication

Built-in lubricating agents extend water pump seal and bearing life.

Scale Prevention

Prevents mineral deposits and scale build-up in cooling passages and radiator tubes.

Coolant Technology

IAT, OAT or HOAT?

Three inhibitor technologies cover almost every coolant on the market. Knowing which a vehicle takes prevents the gelling and premature corrosion that comes from mixing them.

Colour is a market convention, not a specification — never judge compatibility by dye alone. Where the existing coolant type is unknown, drain and flush the system before filling rather than topping up.

Common Questions

CoolMax Coolant, Answered.

Additive technology, dilution, colour coding and distribution — the questions workshops and trade buyers ask most about CoolMax engine coolant.

What is OAT coolant and how does it differ from older types?

OAT stands for Organic Acid Technology. Instead of the fast-depleting inorganic salts used in traditional green IAT coolants, OAT uses organic acid inhibitors that only activate where corrosion begins. They deplete far more slowly, which is why OAT coolants carry much longer service intervals. CoolMax is a full OAT formulation with a neutral pH of 7.5 to 8.5.

Should I buy concentrate or ready-to-use?

CoolMax is supplied in both. Ready-to-use is pre-diluted and poured straight in, which suits workshops wanting no mixing errors. Concentrate must be diluted with clean demineralised water before use and is more economical to ship and store, which usually suits distributors and larger fleets. Never dilute concentrate with hard tap water — the minerals cause exactly the scale the coolant is meant to prevent.

What do the green and red colours mean?

Colour is an identification convention rather than a performance difference: CoolMax is supplied in green or red depending on the application and market expectation. What matters is the additive technology and the vehicle manufacturer's specification, not the dye. Never top up one coolant with a different type simply because the colour matches.

Can different coolants be mixed?

Avoid it. Mixing OAT with older inorganic coolants can cause the inhibitor packages to react, forming gel or sludge that blocks radiator tubes and heater cores. If the existing coolant type is unknown, the system should be drained and flushed before filling with CoolMax rather than topped up.

Why does coolant protect above as well as below freezing?

A coolant's job is year-round. The glycol base raises the boiling point — CoolMax protects up to 129 C — which prevents localised boiling around hot spots in the head under heavy load and high ambient temperature. It lowers the freezing point to -37 C for cold climates, and the inhibitor package prevents corrosion and scale in both. In hot markets, the boiling and corrosion protection matter more than the antifreeze.

Can I distribute CoolMax coolant in my country?

Yes. Tesla Power USA appoints distributors, wholesalers and importers by territory, with West Africa and East Africa currently prioritised. Packaging from 1 L retail bottles to 210 L drums supports retail, workshop and fleet channels from a single supply agreement.
